Autumn – 3

Autumn - 3
Autumn Leaves is a much-recorded popular song. Originally it was a 1945 French song “Les feuilles mortes” (literally “The Dead Leaves”) with music by Hungarian-French composer Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert, and the Hungarian title is “Hulló levelek” (Falling Leaves). Yves Montand (with Irène Joachim) introduced “Les feuilles mortes” in 1946 in the film Les Portes de la Nuit.”

Leather

My partner came home this afternoon bearing gifts, in this case a leaf. She suggested that it would make a good subject as it looked like leather. I think she was right.

The Leaf – 2

I’ve learned something from my grandson, the value of collecting leaves. Whenever we go for a walk he collects a variety of rocks and leaves. He then hides them so he can retrieve them on our next walk. I picked up this leaf a few days ago and hid it until today.

And On My Left

I took a break during yesterday’s stroll to observe my grandson in action. He is almost 8 and engaged in an assortment of age appropriate behaviors including: collecting rocks, collecting leaves and chasing the occasional squirrel. After a time I took a break from my observations to view the neighbor sharing the bench with me. For some reason I decided it made for an appealing picture.
